Welcome to 3D Heroes version 4.0 (I think!).

You see, I never visit this page. I alway just go right to the gallery to check for hits/comments and just don't look here, so I wasn't REALLY aware that I haven't updated this front page for damn near a year. Well, ok, ChaosDrgn kept reminding me and I kept ignoring him, but now I have updated it. :-) I have been posting images in the meantime and that's what's important (right Daniel??)

I did have another extended absence from Poser (about 5 months worth I think) but a request for some commission work (anyone else want a commission? anyone? just email me!) got me going again and I've done a LOT of work since. Hell, the Legion image has 30 freaking characters in it - 25 of them are new and I only have 10 days invested in them. Whew.

And now I'm thinking about another large group shot, with the Titans this time, but only around 12-15 characters. That's probably next if I don't get distracted. That's all for now - expect another update of this page in, oh six months or so! :-)

After yet another extended absence, I'm back. For a while, at least! I've cranked out three or four images in the last week or so and I'm still raring to go, so hopefully I'll get some new stuff posted before long. Yay!

March 27, 2006

Well, I'm consistent if nothing else. Once again, I've gone months without updating this front page. Or the galleries either, for that matter.

I simply burned out and other interests began to take up the time that I had spent working on images. I went 8 months without doing anything at all in Poser. And there still aren't any images bouncing around in my head, screaming to get out. No burning desire to create something. I'll be reading a new comic or see a new micro-here and think "man, that's cool. I should do an image of that." And then I promptly forget about it and move on. I've done this before, gone months without creating anything and eventually picked it up again, so maybe this time is no different. I hope so. I used to really enjoy creating an image, it's just not happening right now.

I do have an update today. Two of the images are from last summer and have been posted on Animotions, but they're new here. And there is one totally new image, an alternate Wonder Man that I did as part of a tutorial I was writing. The tutorial is a walk-through on how I created the image and can be found here if anyone is interested.

That's it for now. Hopefully it won't be another eight months until the next update, but I can't promise anything at this point. Later....

Continuing a theme, it's been quite a while since I updated this page. And this time, I haven't been uploading images in the meantime either. In fact, yesterday was the first time I had touched Poser in about 3 months. A combination of some personal difficulties and just plain burn-out took all the fun out of the process of creating the files & images and I ended up taking a break (much needed, as it turned out.)

The good news is that during my break, I actually started reading again. Hell, I've even gone back to reading history books and not just Scifi and fantasy novels. The bad news is I became a DVD junkie, mainly old TV series - Wonder Woman, Dukes of Hazzard and especially, Highlander!!!

But now, I'm baaack. More or less anyway. Honestly, the creative fire still isn't burning me up like it was a few months ago, so there likely won't be any days where I post multiple images. An image every week or two is probably a more realistic expectation; I'll just have to wait and see.

That's all for now...

Happy Holidays to everyone. Hope you're having nicer weather wherever you are than we are here in southern Missouri. We got close to 10 inches of snow last Wednesday and since today was the first time since then that the temp has gotten above freezing, all the snow is still with us. But it did get to 40 degrees today and it's supposed to be even nicer tomorrow, so maybe the snow will be gone soon. Did I mention I don't particularly like snow?

But there was an upside to the bad weather. I got an extra two days off from work! And I've finished and posted 5 images in that time. I didn't particularly like the Guy Gardner image - I posted it anyway :)- the others I'm pretty happy with. Oh, I meant to mention in the comments section for the "Cousins" image that I scaled the figures so that Superman is 6'3" and Kara is 5'7" - I managed to forget to stick that little piece of trivia in there so I thought I'd throw it in here.

I'm not sure who to do next - maybe some of the ladies from the Justice League Internation era? Say Fire, Ice or Dr Light II? I guess I'll decide tomorrow. And hey, if anyone has any requests, send me a note. I'm usually pretty accommodating.

'Til next time....

November 13, 2004

Once again I've let an extended amount of time go by without updating this page. At least I've continuted to upload images during that time. In fact, I made a LARGE update today - 9 new images over the last couple of hours. They're the first installment of a series of images I'm planning - all 27 Silver Age members of the Legion. This group of images are all guys, but there will likely be some of the gals in the next batch. I expect I'll save Brainy, Karate Kid for last since require somewhat more modeling/conforming that the others. But I do plan to do all 27 of 'em, though I may take a break and explore a couple of ideas I've been tossing around.

Hey Greybird, thanks for all of the eloquent comments and the linke to Legion World. I appreciate it.

'Til next time...

Wow! It's been a while since I updated this front page, hasn't it? Well, at least I've been posting new images in that time. What's coming up next? I don't really know right now. I'm in the "lull" stage after completing the Batman image (I put about 8 hours over 4 days into that image) and I haven't decided what to do next. But stick around, it shouldn't be too long until the next update. Thanks to everyone who's left comments and emailed me.

August 23, 2004

Ok, been a while since I posted anything, huh? But I have a pretty good reason. The last month has been probably the worst of my life, how's that. Any of you who've spoken to me more than once, probably know that my Grandmother lived with me, that we were VERY close and that she's been in poor health for some time. She ended up back in the hospital during the last week of July, the doctors discoved that she had ovarian cancer a few days later and she passed away on August 1st. As you might imagine, my heart hasn't really been into working on Poser files (or much of anything for that matter.)

The last few days, however, I have managed to work on a couple of things so maybe I'm on my way to healing. I still miss her terribly, but the initial despair is mostly gone. Except for occasionally when the reality of things just overwhelms me for a while.

Anyway, I do have two images ready. The first is a John Stewart file that I did as an "easy" one to get back into things. The other is a Wonder Woman file that I've been wanting to do for some time. As always, comments & feedback more than welcome.

Okidokee, posted a new image today - "Battle for Project Cadmus." If you're on dial-up, you should be aware that this is a large file, in excess of 500k.

It has about a dozen figures in it and I ended up having to render it in several pieces and composite them in Photoshop. I tried rendering with all the figures loaded and my system choked. And it's not like I'm running an underpowered system either - 3.1 GHz P4 w/2GB RAM.

I'll likely post character studies of Guardian, Gangbuster and Alpha Centurion in the next day or so, since they're not really big enough in this image to see any detail. Unless I get distracted, of course. :)

June 28, 2004

Just uploaded a WIP of a couple of Silver Age Legionnaires, just because I haven't posted anything in a while. The Huntress image came together very quickly, but since then, I just haven't been able to produce much. Maybe I'll get back on track soon.

Thanks to everyone for all the traffic lately - I was feeling a bit lonely before that. :) But please, more feedback. I just can't get enough!

May 30, 2004

Finally got around and dug out just about the last of my WIPs - an alternate Wonder Woman and MilKid versions of Kid Flash and Aqualad. Also posted an M3 Wonderman in the George Perez designed costume from Avengers #161. Expect to see a Legionnaire or two in the near future. Oh, and if you're reading this on May 30 or 31, go to Renderosity and vote for my Power Girl image (which I'll post here once the contest is over) in the Comics Corner contest. PLEASE! I need votes!

May 17, 2004

Ok, several new gallery images over the last 10 days or so. Just added an original Wonderman tonight and I have a couple of others ready to upload: a Silver Age Aquaman and an "Ultimate" version of Umbra from the Legion. I should get those uploaded tomorrow and then I plan to go thru the files that I have completed or nearly so and try to get them ready for upload. Those files include PreTeen versions of Kid Flash and Aqualad, the Captain Marvel file that adorns the site header, an alternate Supergirl, Zatanna in the costume she joined the JLA in and an Alan Davis Scarlet Witch. There's also a Koshini Power Girl, but I'm not sure I'm ever going to let her see the light of day. :)

April 28, 2004

Once again, a new layout. I get bored easily and I'm never satisfied with whatever the current layout is, so I keep changing it. I don't know how long this one will last, either.

This time I've also broken the Gallery into categories. It just seemed like there were too many thumbnails on that one page. The "All Images" view is still available, but now you can choose to view them by publisher, WIPs and by Most Viewed.

For now, I'm still unable to resume the Downloads section. The bandwidth would cost more than I'm willing to spend to keep them online. Many of my files are still available thru Animotions, courtesy of Hasdrubal. Thanks, Has.

I'm trying to think of ways to improve the site, so if anyone has a suggestion, please pass it along.

Dan
